What is Naturopathic Medicine?

Naturopathy is an alternative medicine which focuses on the root cause of the illness instead of just symptom management by using natural substances to stimulate the body’s own healing process to restore health.

Who Practices Naturopathy?

Naturopathic Doctors (ND) are primary health care doctors who use an array of healing practices, including diet, clinical nutrition, homeopathy, therapeutic counselling, and treatments to address the individual’s ailments from a holistic angle.

How Are NDs Different From MDs?

ND prefer natural, non-toxic substances to allow the body’s own healing and balancing to take place. Therefore, the result is usually free of side effects and more permanent.

MSP and Insurance

Premium assistance patients may receive a subsidy of $23 per visit from MSP for a total of 10 visits per calendar year for any combination of alternative medical practices.

Patient with extended health care plans may submit claims to their own insurance companies. Many naturopathic services can be claimed as medical expenses for personal income tax deduction.
